Octonews-Pedangdut, Lesti Kejora, seemed to be present during the next test of material tests on the number 28 of 2014 concerning copyright, which was held in the building of the Constitutional Court (MK), Jakarta, Tuesday (07/22/2025).

Lesti Kejora expressed his concern about standards standards during the judicial examination session of law number 28 of 2014 concerning copyright. According to him, this unclear standard can provoke the authors of the spectacle, whose himself, vulnerable to be criminalized.

Lesti shared his bitter experience when he was tired by the creator of the song “Like a Dry Branch”, Yoni Dores. “The assignment that I received included a criminal report produced by the songwriter is a tangible form of the standards and the imbalance of the legal position between the songwriter and the artists,” Lesti told the Constitutional Court (MK) to Jakarta on Tuesday (22/22/2025).

Faced with the panel of constitutional judges, Lesti revealed the bitter experience he has lived due to the transport of a song belonging to the late Yoni Dores.

The song was sung at the request of the event committee and was included in the list of agreed songs. But without his knowledge, the appearance was recorded by an unknown party, then downloaded on the YouTube platform.

“Around 2016-2018, I interpreted a song entitled Dry Branch by Pak Yoni Dores at a wedding in Subang, West Java, at the request of the organizer as part of the list of agreed songs,” said Lesti Kejora, city of Jawapos on Wednesday (7/23).

The problem arises when the video appearance during song song was downloaded by another part on the YouTube platform. Worse, the photo of Lesti was even made vignette Yoni Dores composition videos.

Lesti said he and his management did not know neither did not approve of the video download process nor the use of the visual element.

Eight years later, precisely on March 1, 2025, Lesti received an assignment from the lawyer for Yoni Dores, who accused him of having violated criminal provisions in the law on copyright for having been considered as showing the work of Cipta Yoni Dores without the direct authorization of his creator.

The highest point, on May 18, 2025, Yoni Dores even pointed out Lesti to the metropolitan police of Jakarta for copyright violation. Octoplay88

He estimated that this problem had a negative impact on its reputation and showed low legal protection for singers who were only the perpetrators of performance, not the owner of the work.

Lesti highlighted the legal inequalities between the songwriters and the singers who sang the songs only in work. He revealed that the singer’s position is often not clearly protected, in particular in the context of the use of songs on public events.
