In Land Acquisition for Whoosh Fast Train, KPK Confirms Corrupt Practices Exist

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) or Whoosh project is suspected by a number of parties to be full of corrupt practices. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) even investigated the case.

In fact, for the land acquisition process for the whoosh project, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) dared to confirm that there were criminal acts of corruption in the land acquisition process for the high-speed train.

One method is to sell state-owned land for the project. There are allegations that large funds were paid to certain parties during the land acquisition.

“There are individuals who should have owned the state, but sold it back to the state,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission, at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday (11/10).

Asep explained that it was suspected that state-owned land was not being sold at market prices.
“Even more. In fact, the land belongs to the state because it is used for government projects, so the state should not have to pay to use this land,” he stressed.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently investigating the irregular land acquisition for Whoosh. “If the payment is reasonable, we will not take a case. However, for those whose payments are not reasonable, the surcharges, etc., plus, it is not their land, it is the state’s land, in many ways, because it is a national project, so it is regulated here and there, so that they get a certain amount of money, not another amount, it is a lot of money, so we have to return the money to the state,” a explained Asep.
