FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Angry at the way the government responded to public criticism, Ustaz Hilmi Firdausi gave a lecture to President Prabowo Subianto.

This conference was delivered by UHF, its acronym, via its personal X account, @hilmi28.

To Prabowo and all his cabinet subordinates, this Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) scholar emphasized that they could sit comfortably in luxurious chairs thanks to a mandate from the people.

“The task of the government is to work to fulfill the mandate of its superiors, namely the people,” said UHF, Thursday (8/1/2026).

As a mandate giver, UHF said, it is natural for people to criticize the government. Additionally, the wheels of government are slipping.

“Well, the job of the people as superior is to control and criticize, that’s true,” he said.

According to UHF, deploying a buzzer to attack critics is not commendable behavior on the part of the servants of the people.

He then gave the example of a buzzer attack on Komika Pandji Pragiwaksono after her special called “Mens Rea” managed to attract attention.

“So do not use buzzers to attack mandate-givers or even the government itself which criticizes its citizens who speak out,” he explained.

UHF said old models often found during Jokowi’s time as president must be abandoned.

“Please stop these kinds of patterns that have been happening for a decade,” he said.

“Criticism from the people is like a complement for the government to function more optimally,” he said.

Previously, Pandji had stressed that Mens Rea was not created to attack certain groups or parties.
