Two members of Iran’s Kurdish armed opposition group have been killed in a drone strike in northern Iraq. The group blamed Iran for the attack.
Reported by AFP, Saturday (3/14/2026), since the start of the war in the Middle East, Iran has repeatedly attacked positions belonging to Iranian Kurdish groups exiled in Iraq.
“A drone attacked one of our positions at 4:40 p.m. (1:40 p.m. GMT),” Mardin Zahidi, head of the Iranian Kurdistan Khabat organization, told AFP.

In addition to the death of two party members, the attack injured four other people. Zahidi blamed the attack on Iran and its militias.
The attack took place in the Bashiqa Mountains, in a Kurdish-controlled area between the city of Mosul and the autonomous region of Kurdistan.
Another opposition group, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), accused Iran of targeting the group’s “civilian base” near Kurdistan’s capital, Erbil. No casualties were reported in the attack.
The northern Kurdistan region is home to camps and rear bases operated by several Iranian Kurdish rebel groups. This group is designated by Iran as a terrorist organization and accused of serving Western or Israeli interests.

Last month, five groups, including the PDKI, announced a political coalition aimed at overthrowing the Islamic Republic of Iran and ultimately securing Kurdish self-determination.
