The Yucai Dachengbei School in Hangzhou, China, recognized outstanding students with pillows, blankets and sheets named after them. Replaces the certificate, a piece of recognition paper usually given to exceptional students.
The award was presented at a ceremony in mid-December 2025 to students who excelled in a series of exams last November, as reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Tuesday (12/23/2025), cited Monday (12/29/2025).

Students who managed to place in the top five overall in the class received prizes in the form of blankets. Meanwhile, students ranked among the top five in each subject were presented with sheets as recognition for their academic achievements.
Additionally, for students who show significant improvement, both overall and by subject, the school provides pillows and blankets.
The school does not limit the number of students who receive the award. As a result, some students actually received multiple sleeping supplies, depending on the achievements and upgrades they had obtained.
“This award was created especially for you,” said a teacher presiding over the awards ceremony.
“I hope our efforts in preparing for this award can increase your confidence and courage. Continue to study hard and we look forward to your success in the future,” he added.

Jiang Yan, a teacher at Yucai Dachengbei School, said the award was created by the teachers themselves to motivate students and make their achievements more personal.
“We think kids will love sleeping on a “stack of certificates of achievement”! Their happiness is multiplied because each reward is different and created especially for them,” Jiang said.
Parents praise this bedding set as practical and meaningful.

“I can’t wait to be able to use it right away without having to wash it haha,” one parent said online.
In China, students often face great academic pressure. Schools typically hold two major exams, in the middle and at the end of each semester, and rank students based on their results.

Most schools award students with certificates of achievement consisting of red paper and study-related items such as pens and workbooks.
