Penunggu Rumah Movie: Buto Ijo has released the official poster and trailer. The appearance of the big green devil was so frightening.
In the official poster of the film, the figure of Buto Ijo is clearly visible with frightening visuals. Meanwhile, the two-minute trailer tells the story of Ali, a content creator who tests his courage and is terrorized and haunted by the devil.
Pengunggu Rumah: Buto Ijo itself was produced by Creator Media in collaboration with Maxstream Studios, Seru Juga Film Studio and Vibe. This film, directed by Achmad Romie, is a loose adaptation of the legendary story of Timun Mas.
Buto Ijo will tell the story of Srini (Celine Evangelista), a widow with one child, who begins to be terrorized by a giant figure just before her child’s 6th birthday. In an attempt to seek help, Srini once again contacts Ali (Gandhi Fernando), her ex-boyfriend who now works as a horror content creator and who tests her courage.

Ali and Lana (Valérie Thomas), his sister, pressed by economic needs, agree to help Srini. The situation turned grim when the figure of Buto Ijo began to appear before Ali. Slowly, terror after terror emerged and began to uncover dark secrets in the house until she discovered the figure of Buto Ijo, a mystical figure known in Javanese folklore as a guardian and bringer of disaster.
Gandhi Fernando told Home Guard: Buto Ijo not only emphasizes the scary elements like horror films in general, but also creates tension through atmosphere, cultural symbols and strong drama between characters. The film would attempt to offer a different horror experience by exploring the story of Timun Mas from a darker side.
“We want to present a horror that is not only frightening, but also leaves an emotional impression. We interpret the myth of Buto Ijo from the story of Timun Mas as greed and the consequences of human choices,” said Gandhi, who also acts as a writer and producer, in an official statement, Sunday (4/1/2026).

From a visual point of view, Pengunggu Rumah: Buto Ijo is meant to maximize the use of the house as the main and tense space of terror. This atmosphere is enhanced by intense lighting and sound design, as well as a modern storytelling approach rooted in folklore.

“We hope that this combination will provide audiences with an intimate, mystical and memorable viewing experience,” said Gandhi Fernando.
Pengunggu Rumah: Buto Ijo is scheduled to be screened on all Indonesian cinema channels on January 15, 2026. Besides Céline Evangelista, Valérie Thomas and Gandhi Fernando, the film also stars Meryem Hasanah as Tisya, Adnan Djani as Indra, Pratito Wibowo as Buto Ijo and Arie Dwi Andhika as Riza.
