The aspirations of residents of Sidasari Village, Cipari District, Cilacap Regency, to be protected from the threat of flooding of the Cikawung River are now beginning to become a reality thanks to the support and supervision of DPR RI member of the Gerindra Party Faction, Dr. Hj Novita Wijayanti.
The local government has finally entered the implementation phase after receiving budgetary support from APBN of around IDR 11 billion for the construction of flood prevention cliffs, which the local government has been fighting for all this time.
The development is part of the government’s efforts to increase protection of residential areas and agricultural lands which for years have often been affected by the overflowing of the Cikawung River during the rainy season.
Member of the DPR RI of the Gerindra Party Faction, Commission V, Dr. Hj. Novita Wijayanti, said this development is a concrete manifestation of its commitment to overseeing the aspirations of the community until they are translated into development programs providing direct benefits to residents.
“From aspiration to action. The hopes of residents of Sidasari Village are now beginning to come true. Through collective struggle and commitment, the aspiration to build flood prevention cliffs for the Cikawung River continues to be encouraged to protect residents from the threat of river overflows which have been a concern during the rainy season,” Novita said in its statement on Friday (26/6/2026).
Novita Wijayanti, who is also the head of the Gerindra Party’s wing organization, namely Greater Indonesian Women (PIRA), said the existence of river banks should be able to provide a sense of security for the community, protect residential areas, as well as protect agricultural land which is a source of income for residents.
“The construction of this river bank is expected to maintain residential security, protect agricultural land and provide a sense of security to residents of Sidasari village,” he said.
During the field inspection, Gerindra Party cadres led by President Prabowo Subianto showed the progress of the works which have now entered the first stages of implementation.
“This time, I invite you to see the construction progress of the river cliffs located in Sidasari Village, Cipari Subdistrict, Cilacap Regency. This program is financed by an APBN budget of around IDR 11 billion,” he said.
Meanwhile, representatives of the village community expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by Novita Wijayanti so that this development could be achieved in FY 2026.
“We would like to thank the member of Commission V of the DPR RI from the Gerindra Party, Ms. Dr. Hj. Novita Wijayanti, SE, MM. With her help, this program can be realized,” said the village representative.
He explained that the construction was carried out over a length of approximately 1.5 kilometers which included the construction of gabions at a number of vulnerable points as well as the construction of embankments to strengthen the banks of the Cikawung River.
“The project has a volume of approximately 1.5 kilometers, including the construction of gabions at several vital points and the construction of river banks,” he explained.
Currently, the progress of the work has entered the phase of sending materials to the site and preparing the land using heavy equipment. The village government hopes that all stages of the development can proceed according to schedule so that the benefits are immediately felt by the community.
“Now we can see that this activity has reached the dropping of equipment and preparation of the ground using heavy equipment. Hopefully this activity will run smoothly until the deadline,” he said.
